The Royal Palace of Kandy, officially known as the Old Royal Palace, stands beside the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, reflecting the political and ceremonial heart of Sri Lanka’s last kingdom. Built mainly during the Kandyan period, it served as the residence of Sri Lankan monarchs until British colonisation in 1815.
